About Us

Deforestation is a major cause of crises such as animal extinction, global warming, world hunger and many more detrimental nature-related dilemmas.  Forests are home to more than 80% of the world’s terrestrial animals yet there have been 15 billion trees cut down each year.

What you are reading might just be some big estimated numbers but the truth is; ever since the beginning of human civilization, almost half of the entire world’s trees have been cut down leading to 10,000 entire species going extinct every year.  This loss of biodiversity also affects the water cycle, reducing rainfall and increasing the risk of flooding and soil erosion.  When forests are cleared, the loss of trees disrupts the carbon cycle, leading to increased levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and exacerbating climate change. Trees play a critical role in absorbing carbon, and their removal accelerates global warming.

Who We Are

We are a government approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works towards slowing the effects of deforestation. Based in Syosset, New York, our team is fully comprised of high-school students, dedicated to the environment. From our home in Long Island to the densest jungles across the globe, we are rooted in the belief that a sustainable future is not just a hope, but a responsibility we all share.

What We Do

At LeafedUp, we host fundraisers and building lasting partnerships with sponsors who share our vision for a greener earth. Our plan is to show our impact during our community field days, where our volunteers gather at local arboretums to plant native trees and engage with professional arborists and conservationists.

Beyond our public events, we bring the mission directly to your doorstep through our signature Rooted at Home program. Through this initiative, we deliver native trees and climate-resilient plants directly to our volunteers, empowering them to expand the local canopy one backyard at a time. By transforming private landscapes into mini-sanctuaries, we aren't just planting trees—we are cultivating a personal connection to the environment across New York.
